Great message, guy! I am close to your age myself (68, so yet a bit older) and went through similar things in my 20s as you did, the more so since I had a few years (Navy, work) before I started collegeand between years of it, thus went through all of that with baby-boomers a bit younger than myself. There are so many good things in your message, but I`ll single out your proper praise for the Douay-Rheims-Challoner Version Bible as far, far superior to the Catholic Bibles of the mid-20th century and beyond. Yes, the A.V. (K.J.V.) is better still than the Douay-Rheims, but the latter is free of what the "Critical Text" has inflicted on Catholic Biblical scholarship. The true Latin Vulgate (Clementine text) is free of many of the same flaws, too,although, of course, not free of all of them. However, the "New Vulgate" is not even a real Vulgate Bible at all; it is a Bible in Latin, but does not reflect the Latin tradition of the text in the Western Catholic Church in the way, of course, that the Clementine Vulgate had done so. May God rebuke and punish those who corrupted the Latin Bible in this way!
